Daniele Scauso is a self-taught artist. His works are metal bodies that interact with space and contexts. Through simple and repeated patterns, his compositions give life to a narrative that presents itself to the observer as an image that is present and mutable at the same time.
By internalising concepts such as protection, necessity and interaction with the other, his flexible metal compositions ask the audience to relate to the work itself, to interpret it and to participate in the dialogue between the artist and the work. A direct link is established between the material and the imagination, which, through the performative experience, gradually involves all the other senses. The work continues to evolve through the collective experience.
After several years working in management positions in Banking first, and in the Development Sector later, and travelling the world at large, he left his job and started his life and career as an artist. In 2016, he joined the atelier of Bert Meister, the third generation from a blacksmiths’ family active in Amsterdam since 1909. Since then, Daniele organised indoor and outdoor community projects, and had solo and group exhibitions in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.
Next to this work as an artist, he teaches art to children and young people in MK24 Art School in Amsterdam, where he currently lives and works.
