A neighborhood becomes a gallery
July 1st - August 28th, 2021 | Amsterdam
By reinventing the use of private and public spaces AMULETS developed as a community-driven initiative exploring unconventional channels for exhibiting art in urban contexts.
Like amulets - objects with the purpose to beautify and protect - the exhibition is a homage to the Bellamybuurt neighborhood in Amsterdam Oud-West, and its everyday's life.
AMULETS is an independent initiative realized through a crowdfunding action (info).
''My gratitude go to the many individual donors that donated to this project; to the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, the Prins Bernhard CultuurFonds Noord-Holland for their interest and generous support to this initiative; and to Voordekunst for its guidance in developing the crowdfunding project.
Very special thanks go to the Bellamy Kabinet, the Metaal Atelier Meister, the Zimmerhoeve Kinderboerderij, the Trio Strotski, De Broers Stravers, Hans Flupsen, David Vos and to the residents of the Bellamybuurt whose support and engagement made this project possible and its opening and closing events very special''.
