Solomon's Knot
The Knot of Solomon is a decorative motif used across many cultures and religions since ancient times. Because there is no visible beginning or ending, it may represent immortality and eternity.
While being designated by religions as the all-faith symbol of faith, it also appears in many places as a valued secular symbol of prestige and beauty.
In its simpler form of two entwined figures, it is interpreted as a Lover’s knot.
The Solomon’s Knot appears in mosaics from the Roman Empire, in mosques across the Middle East, and in West-Africa, where it is found on crowns, tunics and ceremonial objects. It is visible in churches, synagogues, mosques and domestic houses.
It portrays the intertwined paths of human civilizations.
