Rode Zon (Red Sun)
Hammered on the units that compose Rode Zon are 21 names of places and venues that are - or have been - part of Amsterdam's creative history and culture in the last decades. Some of these places do not exist anymore, swept away by the cultural and economic changes that have affected the city.
Other places are still there, resisting.
The Rode Zon is a communication harness; it highlights the importance to protect such spaces whose existence and proposition contribute to the unique energy of a city.
A red dot is often used in social media communications to emphasize the urgency of a message.
Special thanks to Jaap Draaisma for the inspiration and collaboration in developing this work.
The Rode Zon has been part of MYBELLAMY street exhibition.
